Blessed John Henry Newman
Pope Benedict XVI declared Cardinal John Henry Newman, the brightest light of English Catholicism "blessed." The elevation of Newman to the honours of the altar, is the Church's formal declaration that he is in heaven, and can be invoked as intercessor on our behalf.
